EQT is a Stockholm-headquartered global private equity and infrastructure investment firm, founded in 1994 and led by CEO Christian Sinding. EQT does not operate in music distribution itself. It appears in this directory because, through its EQT X fund, it was part of the consortium alongside Believe founder Denis Ladegaillerie and fellow investor TCV that took French-listed music distributor Believe SA private, completing a squeeze-out and delisting on 5 August 2025.
That stake makes EQT an upstream controlling shareholder of Believe and its subsidiary TuneCore, which launched dedicated Africa operations in February 2021 covering Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and other markets, distributing African independent artists. EQT’s African relevance is therefore indirect: it runs through its ownership position over a distribution pipe used by African artists and labels, not through any African-specific business line of its own.
