Effyzzie Music Group is a Lagos-based record label and artist-management company built around Nigerian singer Yemi Alade. It signed a global recorded-music licensing agreement with Universal Music Africa and Universal Music France in September 2019, and a worldwide digital distribution deal with IDOL in July 2023, putting Yemi Alade’s catalogue through major-affiliated pipes while the label itself remains independently run.
The label is fronted by Taiye Gerald Aliyu, who has been its public face since founding. A UK-registered company under the same name, Effyzzie Music Group Ltd (company number 09550688), was dissolved in January 2019, eight months before the Universal Music Africa deal was announced under the Effyzzie name; Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission has no public search tool, so the identity and incorporation of the entity that actually signed cannot be independently confirmed. Ownership is treated here as founder-led pending clearer registry evidence.
Effyzzie’s relevance rests almost entirely on Yemi Alade, one of Afrobeats’ most consistent international touring and streaming acts; the label’s roster beyond her, including newer signings like Geniuzz and Soti, has not generated comparable independent coverage.
