Africa Nostra is a Paris-based music publisher holding the editorial catalogue built alongside the Lusafrica record label, founded by José Da Silva. France’s national business register dates the legal entity, AFRICA NOSTRA (SIREN 418649422), to 25 April 1998, though Sony’s own announcement dates the publishing house to 2000. Its catalogue covers works recorded by Cesaria Evora, Polo Montanez and other Lusafrica artists; Sony has said the overlap with Lusafrica’s recorded catalogue runs to close to three quarters of the works.
Sony Music Publishing France announced on 2 July 2025 that it had acquired Africa Nostra. The French register records Sony Music Publishing (France) SAS, SIREN 414816249, as the company’s sole officer and president, which establishes control at governance level. As with Lusafrica, the register does not publish shareholdings.
Its African basis is its Lusophone catalogue, principally Cape Verdean repertoire, rather than African domicile: the company itself is registered in Paris.
