Prince Tonye T. J. T Princewill, Adonis Production, Canex Creations Incorporated and Afrexim, signatories to the Festac 77 agreement

The producers of 77: The Festac Conspiracy signed an agreement with Canex Creations Incorporated (CCI), a specialized commercial subsidiary of the Afrexim bank, during the ongoing 2026 Canex Weekend in Lagos, Nigeria.

Who signed and where#

The signing ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall of the National Theatre. The main participants were:

  • Prince Tonye T. J. T Princewill, executive producer of the film and chairman of the board of Adonis Production
  • Osahon Akpata, chief executive of CCI
  • Mrs. Kanayo Awani, executive vice president of the Afrexim bank, who also chairs the CCI board and joined the signatories on stage

About the film and the fund#

The film is a sequel to 76, which is still showing on Netflix. It takes audiences behind the scenes of its subject matter.

CCI is a specialized commercial subsidiary operating under the Afrexim bank’s $2 billion fund. Akpata described the film as “a film Africa can be proud of,” pledged his and his team’s full support, and urged other filmmakers to follow Adonis Production’s pursuit of excellence.

Producer’s remarks#

Prince Tonye thanked the CCI team for its confidence in investing in 77 and pledged to give the company further reasons to back projects of this kind. He said:

“Adonis Production focuses on true stories because Africa has so much truth to tell. Reality is stranger than fiction. This building, our Festac village were both inspired by that Festival of Arts and Culture and I feel honoured that 50 years later, we will get to be celebrating it with our film.”

77: The Festac Conspiracy is set for cinemas in early 2027.
