Stay Low is a Johannesburg record label and artist management company operated by Steyn Entertainment, which names it as such on its own site. Vaughn Thiel is named as the label’s head across South African trade coverage from 2021, and the site still carries his byline as an author.
The label runs talent management alongside signings, and has brokered at least two label-to-label partnerships: one with Priddy Ugly’s Global African Sounds in March 2021, and one with producer Zoocci Coke Dope’s PiFF Audio a month later, each installing the partner artist in a label-executive role alongside Thiel. Its current roster, per its own site, includes Lordkez, Marcus Harvey, Hannah Ray, Ginger Trill, Mars Baby and ShooterKhumz.
As a Steyn Entertainment property rather than a major-owned label, Stay Low sits in the independent tier of South Africa’s hip hop and alternative scene, built on signing and co-executive-producing with the artists it partners rather than a conventional roster-only model.
