Itel Power 80 Launches in Kenya With 7,000mAh Battery, IP68/IP69

Itel has launched the Power 80 in Kenya at KSh 19,499 (Kenyan shillings), pairing a 7,000mAh battery with IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance and 2-meter drop protection.

The itel Power 80 has launched in Kenya at KSh 19,499 (Kenyan shillings), with a durability-first pitch built around a 7,000mAh battery, IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance, and 2-meter drop protection. The new 4G smartphone carries the tagline “No Case. Still Tough.”

The launch asks why buying a phone should also mean budgeting for a case, tempered glass, and future screen repairs. The device enters Kenya’s sub-KSh20,000 market, where battery life has traditionally been a key selling point.

Durability certifications

itel says the Power 80’s durability story rests on four credentials: SGS 5-Star Drop Protection Certification, MIL-STD-810H compliance for selected durability test methods, and IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance under controlled laboratory conditions.

The company’s product documentation notes that these certifications describe different tests rather than one universal guarantee. Water resistance can diminish through normal wear, prolonged submersion is not recommended, and real-world drops depend on factors such as height, angle, and impact surface.

Engineering and water protection

The phone is built around what itel calls a Cage Frame Skeleton, a reinforced internal structure with shock-absorbing corners, raised bezels, and a strengthened mid-frame designed to spread impact across the device instead of concentrating it on the screen. itel says the Power 80 completed 25,000 roll-drop tests in addition to verified 2-meter drop testing.

Water protection uses layered sealing with waterproof gaskets and nano membranes around key openings, while pressure-balancing measures are designed to reduce moisture ingress during temperature changes. The device includes an Underwater Mode with volume-button shutter controls and a Sonic Ejection feature that helps clear water from the speaker after exposure.

Battery, outdoor features and specifications

The 7,000mAh battery is one of the headline specifications. itel claims up to 67.8 days of standby time, 22.6 hours of video playback, and 54.2 hours of calling under laboratory testing. The company also says its battery management system performs an automatic self-repair process every 200 charge cycles, reducing battery degradation over time.

The AI Adaptive Outdoor Features suite includes:

  • Rain Touch Control
  • Outdoor Noise Reduction
  • Auto Brightness and Volume
  • Hands-Free Enhancement
  • Outdoor Boost Mode

Other specifications include:

  • 6.78-inch 120Hz HD+ IPS display
  • Unisoc T7250 processor
  • 50MP rear camera and 8MP front camera
  • 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable storage
  • Android 16 with itel OS 16

Market context and availability

Earlier Kenyan releases such as the P37 built their reputation around large batteries, while newer devices including the City 100 and Super 26 Ultra introduced AI features, premium-inspired styling, and higher-end displays without abandoning affordable pricing. The Power 80 combines long battery life with practical AI tools in a durability-first package.

The itel Power 80 is now available across Kenya through official itel stores, Phone Place outlets, Jumia Kenya, and other authorized retailers, with a recommended retail price of KSh 19,499.
