Thandi Marie And DXMI OLAN Find Their Sweet Spot On “Sweetness”

Thandi Marie and DXMI OLAN join forces on "Sweetness", blending soulful R&B sensibilities and Afrobeats influences into a captivating collaboration.

Thandi Marie

Born in Lilongwe, Malawi, Thandi Marie grew up surrounded by the city’s rich musical culture, an influence that continues to shape her artistic journey.

She made her entrance in 2021 with the soulful debut ‘Brand New’, followed by the two-track single ‘what i should’ve said’.

With her R&B sensibilities and growing catalogue, Thandi has steadily introduced listeners to her sound and creative identity.

Joining her on ‘Sweetness’ is DXMI OLAN, a Nigerian-born Afrobeats artist whose music bridges cultural influences and contemporary sounds.

His tracks ‘Regular’ and ‘Fantasy’ have gained attention on iTunes charts and across Afro-fusion playlists, helping him reach audiences beyond his home country.

His 2023 debut EP, ‘Everybody Can’t Survive’, offered a glimpse into his storytelling, rhythmic instincts and willingness to explore different musical textures.

On “Sweetness”, the title alone hints at a softer, more inviting side of music, evoking the warmth and excitement that come with a special connection.

Rather than relying on grand gestures, the song’s appeal lies in the feeling its name suggests: affection, tenderness and the kind of chemistry that makes two people gravitate towards each other.

The collaboration also brings together two artists with distinct musical backgrounds, creating an opportunity for R&B’s emotional depth to meet the rhythmic sensibilities of Afrobeats.

It is a pairing that feels naturally suited to a song built around warmth and connection.

With “Sweetness”, Thandi Marie and DXMI OLAN offer listeners a taste of their shared musical world, leaving room for the melodies to linger long after the song ends.
