Google has published the five music-related topics that recorded the highest search interest in Nigeria during the first half of 2026. The list includes local breakout acts, an international awards ceremony, and a World Cup collaboration.

  • Destiny Boy: Search interest in the street-pop artist rose in the first half of 2026, driven by his ascent and a series of releases that gained viral attention. Users looked for information on his background, discography, collaborations, and career trajectory as his audience expanded.
  • 68th Grammy Awards: The ceremony drew high search volumes in Nigeria, with users tracking nominees, winners, and performances. African artists, including Burna Boy, were among the nominees, and Bad Bunny made history at the ceremony.
  • Shakira and Burna Boy’s World Cup performances: Burna Boy and Shakira collaborated on the official FIFA World Cup anthem, “Dai Dai.” They performed the song at the tournament’s opening ceremonies and headlined FIFA’s first Super Bowl-style halftime show at the final.
  • Bad Bunny: Searches for Bad Bunny were linked to his Super Bowl halftime show headline performance and his sustained chart and awards success.
  • “Jogodo” by Wizkid and Asake: The song, the lead single from their joint project REAL, Vol. 1, topped charts and broke streaming records. It became one of Nigeria’s longest-running number-one tracks of the year, with searches focused on lyrics, videos, streaming links, and updates on the collaboration.
