BNJ City Block is the Casablanca rap imprint founded by and operated for Moroccan rapper ElGrandeToto (Taha Fahssi), named after his home neighbourhood of Benjdia. He released his debut project under the name in 2017, and Apple’s delivered rights metadata credits the imprint, in the casings BNJ City Block, BNJ CITY BLOCK and BNJ, on 19 of his 43 lead-artist releases from the single “Pablo” (25 September 2017) to the 19-track edition of the album 27 (24 November 2023).
From the single “WELD LAADOUL” of 26 October 2023 the credit reads “BNJ City Block, under exclusive licence to Sony Music Entertainment France SAS,” naming BNJ City Block as owner of the recordings and the Sony entity as licensee. ElGrandeToto’s own credit for the album 27 lists Anissa Jalab as “Production ExĂ©cutive… pour BNJ City Block.” Deezer and MusicBrainz continue to return BNJ City Block in the label field for the November 2024 album SALGOAT, where Apple’s phonogram credit instead names EGT Corporation, the imprint’s successor in his current catalogue.
No formal company registration for BNJ City Block could be located in the French national business register, and Morocco’s commercial register offers no public interface reachable from this desk, so its legal form is not established. Its official Instagram, @bnjcityblock.off (roughly 58,000 followers), states in its bio that it operates under exclusive licence to EGT Corporation, founded by ElGrandeToto.
