Diamond Platnumz flaunts Sh13m Audemars Piguet luxury watch

Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has turned heads after showing off a rare Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked “Rainbow” watch on social media.

The luxury timepiece, known for its gemstone-set bezel and intricate open dial, ranks among the most exclusive watches in the world. It features 32 baguette-cut rainbow sapphires alongside a skeletonised dial that exposes the twin balance wheels beneath.

While retail prices for the model sit around Sh13 million ($100,000), secondary market listings on luxury watch marketplaces like Chrono24 price rare editions between Sh35.1 million ($270,000) and well over Sh46.8 million ($360,000), depending on the metals and custom gem configurations.

Diamond joins an elite tier of global stars owning the statement creation.

The artist, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, began his career in 2006 at age 17 while selling second-hand clothes in Dar es Salaam.

He funneled small earnings from that business into studio time to record his debut single, “Toka Mwanzo,” an R&B-tinged Bongo Flava track that failed to gain traction.

His breakthrough arrived in 2010 with “Kamwambie,” a single that swept the Tanzania Music Awards and propelled him into the spotlight.

He followed up with a chain of regional hits, weaving Bongo Flava with Afropop, R&B, and dancehall elements.

Over the years, Diamond leveraged his catalog into a broader commercial footprint.

He established the WCB Wasafi record label, expanded into media and betting ventures, and signed brand ambassadorships with international firms.

Those commercial operations, alongside concert tours and digital streaming revenue, have steadily expanded his commercial footprint.

If anything, the Rainbow Audemars Piguet is perhaps a clear indication.
