Dr. Milner Mwanakampwe, permanent secretary for Zambia’s Central Province, has commended the Food Security Pack (FSP) Programme for its progress in reducing poverty among vulnerable households in the region.
Speaking in Kabwe when a delegation from the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services paid him a courtesy call, Mwanakampwe said the programme has continued to change lives by supplying agricultural inputs to vulnerable but viable farmers across the province.
He said the ministry-run initiative has recorded strong results in all districts, with particular impact in Chitambo, Mkushi and Chisamba.
Mwanakampwe added that community development departments in some districts have used part of the recoveries from beneficiaries to construct offices and skills development centres, which are benefiting local communities.
He urged the World Food Programme (WFP) and other cooperating partners to maintain support for the initiative.
Martin Mwansa, chief community development officer at the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, said Zambia’s government remains committed to implementing social protection programmes to reduce poverty at community level.
