African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank)

African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a multilateral trade finance institution whose stated mission, in its own words, is “to stimulate a consistent expansion, diversification and development of African trade, while operating as a first class, profit-oriented, socially responsible financial institution and a center of excellence in African trade matters”. On 3 October 2024, at the “Destination 2030: Nigeria Everywhere” event held alongside the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Afreximbank President and Chairman Benedict Oramah announced a 200 million dollar financing facility in support of Nigeria’s creative industries. That commitment is the sole published origin of the 200 million dollar figure attached to Nigeria’s Creative Economy Development Fund.
