The stories of people who confronted adversity and found the strength to move forward were brought together at Harvard University as the London Organisation of Skills Development (LOSD) Publishing House unveiled its global anthology, A Book of Resilience, during the LOSD Skills Live Show 2026. The literary launch formed part of the three-day international gathering held from August 14 to 16, which attracted authors, educators, academics, entrepreneurs, professionals, leaders and social changemakers from different parts of the world. Edited by Prof. Dr. Parin Somani, Founder and CEO of LOSD, A Book of Resilience brings together 40 authors whose individual experiences provide different perspectives on adversity, perseverance and personal transformation. Their accounts examine moments of difficulty, personal challenges, determination, growth and the decisions that enabled them to continue despite circumstances that could have otherwise altered the course of their lives. The contributing authors are Prof. Parin Somani, Anna Lau, Vanessa Haripersad, Ignacio Bonasa Alzuria, Theresa A. Moseley, Begum Walji, Flomny Menon, Sebrina Spencer, A.V. Geetarani (BK Dr. Geeta Didi), Noelene Kotschan, Sarita Chauhan, Nicola Middleton, Greg Fuller, Benjamin Pelz, Mus Berisha, Salwa Arfaoui, Minni Chalana, Yahia Baiza, Nancy Herkul, Desziree Richardson, K. Shiva Helali, Maryam Baiza Kassam, Renetta Weaver, Prof. Angeline V. Teo, Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, Martha Davidson, Ivanka Zakharchuk, Elena Apalkova, Prof. Nitin Arora, Swami Shailendra Saraswati, Raju M. Thakkar, Alena Butkevica, Urvi Gala, Mamta Chawla, Vibhoo Bajpai, Neetu Gupta, Dr. Gayane Gabrielyan, Sana Farheen, Sania Ambreen and Phyllis Alanya Nunn. The diversity of the contributors is central to the publication’s message. Their stories demonstrate how resilience can take different forms, from overcoming personal hardship to adapting to major life changes and turning difficult experiences into opportunities for growth. At the Harvard event, co-authors who attended in person were formally recognised for their contributions to the anthology. The recognition was presented in the presence of distinguished guests, including Chief Guest H.E. Baron Alec Stern, Inaugural Chief Guest William Selvamurthy and Prof. Dr. Parin Somani. For the authors, the occasion provided an opportunity to move their personal experiences beyond individual narratives and into a collective international publication. Their contributions demonstrate the role literature can play in connecting people through experiences that may otherwise remain private. Prof. Somani’s role in the project extends beyond editing the anthology. Through LOSD, she has been involved in initiatives spanning education, research, leadership development, humanitarian activities and knowledge-sharing. The publishing arm of the organisation has increasingly provided opportunities for individuals to document experiences and ideas for wider audiences. The publication of A Book of Resilience therefore represents part of a broader effort to use literature as a vehicle for knowledge-sharing and human connection. By bringing together accounts from contributors with different professional and cultural backgrounds, the anthology creates a shared space for reflection on adversity and personal development. The Harvard launch also provided a platform for LOSD Publishing House to announce its forthcoming anthology, A Book of Love. The new project will shift the focus from resilience to the different dimensions of love and human connection. The forthcoming publication is expected to explore themes including family, friendship, compassion, kindness, service, relationships and the individuals or experiences that give meaning to people’s lives. The anthology is scheduled for an African launch on Valentine’s Day in 2027. LOSD Publishing House is inviting prospective contributors from around the world to submit stories reflecting their experiences of love and human connection. Potential themes include unconditional love, overcoming hardship through love, the influence of a significant person, acts of kindness and lessons learned through relationships. Submissions are expected to follow the publisher’s guidelines and may be sent to [email protected]. The literary initiative is also connected to LOSD’s wider international publishing activities. A Book of Resilience and A Book of Love formed part of an initiative involving 1,572 authors who participated in a Guinness World Records attempt on July 26, 2026, for the Most Authors Signing Their Own Books Simultaneously. The initiative brought together authors around a shared celebration of writing, creativity and knowledge-sharing, further expanding LOSD Publishing House’s international literary activities. For LOSD, the significance of A Book of Resilience extends beyond its launch at Harvard. The anthology places individual experiences within a broader conversation about how people respond to adversity and how personal stories can encourage others facing difficult circumstances. As the event concluded, the publication offered a simple proposition: personal experiences, when shared thoughtfully, can become sources of encouragement for others. Through its publishing projects and international programmes, LOSD continues to create platforms for authors, educators, professionals and changemakers to share knowledge and experiences with wider audiences. A Book of Resilience adds another chapter to that effort, bringing together 40 individual stories in a single volume centred on the enduring human capacity to persevere, adapt and grow.
