Chartmetric has launched two public daily charts ranking the top 50 artists and tracks globally, using its own metrics.
The lists combine streaming data with social media data, a move the analytics platform said is intended to provide “a broader view of how music is performing and gaining traction across the digital landscape”.
Official charts typically focus on revenue-generating streams and sales rather than views and followings on TikTok, Instagram and other social platforms.
How the charts differ#
Early results show overlap with established streaming rankings. Today’s Chartmetric Top 50 songs chart includes tracks by Shakira, Karol G, Ariana Grande, Temper City, Ella Langley and Stella Lefty that have also appeared high in Spotify’s comparable daily chart.
However, tracks from BCD Studio, DJ chu and Official Sound Studio appear in Chartmetric’s top 10 without yet being large streaming hits, suggesting the social data can surface different records.
Top artists on day one#
The first published artist ranking is led by Taylor Swift, whose genre tag is listed as “lofi”. The rest of the top 10 follows:
