Ayo Keeng has released “Mother’s Tongue,” a single positioned as the emotional centerpiece of his forthcoming project, “Love Lord.”
The track frames heartbreak as a lesson rather than a wound, urging listeners to approach love with care and to prioritize self-love over fleeting passion. Sung across English, Nigerian Pidgin and Yoruba, the song uses each language to deepen its message, pairing universal emotion with the cultural weight of Yoruba expression.
Produced by Different Breed and written by Ayomide Habeeb Yekeen, “Mother’s Tongue” shifts away from dancefloor energy toward a slower, meditative Afro-fusion sound. It extends the bilingual approach heard in Ayo Keeng’s earlier tracks “Yoruba Angel,” “Duro,” “Adura” and “Magun.”
The release offers a reflective take on love, heartbreak and the wisdom that comes from learning to love oneself first.
