Apple has expanded iCloud+ subscriptions in India to include Apple TV, a catalogue of more than 200 games on Apple Arcade, and Apple Music Select, as part of a rollout across 100 countries.
Apple describes Apple Music Select as “a collection of ad-free stations programmed by Apple Music for lean-back listening, offering a wide range of regionally relevant music to enjoy, as well as Top Songs, 80s, 90s, and more”. It is a radio-style version of Apple Music, not the full on-demand service.
Pricing and discounts#
iCloud+ subscribers can buy Apple Music individual and family plans at reduced monthly rates in Indian rupees:
- Apple Music individual: Rs115 (about $1.20), down from Rs139 (about $1.45)
- Apple Music family: Rs145 (about $1.50), down from Rs229 (about $2.40)
“For users accessing iCloud+ through family sharing, the [reduced] monthly price is available to the user who pays for the iCloud+ subscription,” Apple said.
iCloud+ subscriptions in India currently start at Rs75 (about $0.80) per month for 50GB of storage and can be shared with up to five family members. Apple One plans, which bundle iCloud+, Apple TV, Apple Arcade and Apple Music, start at Rs195 (about $2.05) per month for 50GB.
Effect on Apple One and stand-alone services#
A customer on the cheapest iCloud+ plan would pay Rs75 plus Rs115, a total of Rs190, for iCloud+ and an individual Apple Music plan. That is Rs5 less than the Rs195 Apple One bundle, which Apple said will no longer be available to new subscribers but will remain accessible to existing users.
Existing subscribers to Apple Arcade and Apple TV are most affected by the change. Apple has said both services will no longer be available as stand-alone subscriptions in India and the other 99 countries.
