18 Area Holdings is Focalistic’s (Lethabo Sebetso) own record label and imprint, established in early 2020 in a partnership with independent South African label Vth Season. The name comes from the “18 Area,” South African slang for the penalty box on a soccer pitch, a reference to Focalistic’s own football background before he turned to music full time; he had already used the name for a self-released 2019 mixtape, “28 May: 18 Area.”
Since the 2020 launch, 18 Area Holdings has carried the phonogram credit on every Focalistic-led release checked, including the EPs and albums that built his breakout year: “Quarantined Tarantino” (April 2020), his debut album “Sghubu Ses Excellent” (December 2020), and every subsequent Focalistic project through 2026, including collaborations with Pabi Cooper, Mellow & Sleazy, Reece Madlisa, Lady Du and Mr JazziQ.
