Nigerian artist Rema has released “Oh No”, a new single produced by Rvssian that follows “Tea”, his first solo release of 2026. The track blends kompa, reggaeton, dancehall and Afropop while foregrounding a playful, nostalgic side of Rema.
Built around flirtatious lyrics and a hook shaped for movement, “Oh No” captures the rush of attraction. The production gives Rema room to lean into energy and excitement rather than a heavier mood, and it points toward a next project with a stated goal of making people dance.
The single reunites Rema with Rvssian, who previously worked with him on “Badboys.” Rvssian described the reunion as easy and said both artists considered their earlier collaboration a classic.
The video was filmed on the streets of Los Angeles. Rema moves through brick-lined locations while the story introduces intimate moments with a love interest, including a scene in which he shops for flowers. The visual treatment matches the song’s romantic tension and playful character, with Rema at the centre of the action.
With “Tea” and now “Oh No,” Rema is entering a new phase with a freer energy. The recent music is less concerned with outside expectations and more focused on movement, enjoyment and experimentation.
Momentum for the next project#
Early listening events in London and New York have already previewed music from Rema’s next chapter. Clips of unreleased songs from those parties have circulated online, sparked trends and added to anticipation for the project.
The activity follows a busy 2026 for the 26-year-old artist. He began the year on Don Toliver’s Billboard Hot 100 hit “Secondhand,” then teamed with Skillibeng on “Ballerina,” continuing his exploration of different sounds and creative collaborations.
Rema later joined LISA and Anitta for “Goals,” the official Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup song. The trio performed it during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Los Angeles in June, in front of a live audience of more than 54 million viewers.
His international activity also included headlining Yardland Festival in Paris with a dedicated Remaland stage takeover, followed by immersive Remaland experiences in Portugal and Morocco. Earlier this year, Rema walked in Diesel’s Milan runway show after being personally selected by Glenn Martens.
Chart and touring history#
The approach follows several years of pushing Afrobeats into new spaces. Rema’s self-titled debut arrived in 2019, and he has since become one of African pop’s most recognisable global figures, building an international catalogue through chart success, major collaborations and sold-out performances.
His 2022 single “Calm Down” became a defining commercial moment. A remix with Selena Gomez helped turn the song into a worldwide phenomenon.
- Spent 58 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart
- Reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100
- Peaked at No. 3 on the UK Official Singles Chart
- Earned five-times Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)
Rema marked the song’s success with his first sold-out stadium show at London’s O2 Arena in 2023, performing for more than 20,000 fans.
In 2024, he released HEIS, a high-energy sophomore album that explored the foundations and evolution of Afrobeats while drawing from the influence of earlier artists. The project appeared on several year-end lists and earned Rema his first GRAMMY nomination for Best Global Music Album. It also powered a sold-out stadium tour that included Coachella and major performances and takeovers at venues including Madison Square Garden, the O2 Arena in London, Accor Arena in Paris, and Okinawa Arena in Japan.
With “Oh No,” Rema offers another look at the world he is building for his next project, with an emphasis on freedom, fun and music designed to make people move.
