The Cake Bizness is a Lagos-founded artist development label launched in March 2024 by Nigerian rapper and record executive Gilbert “A-Q” Bani, formerly signed to Chocolate City Music and a co-founder of the label 100 Crowns. Bani has described the label’s model publicly as “startup-equity”: outside investors can put early money into a signed artist’s brand and track its growth, while music-industry professionals can contribute expertise as sweat equity in exchange for shares.
No UK Companies House entity under the name Cake Bizness or The Cake Bizness could be found in a direct search, and Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission has no public search API, so the label’s registered legal name and ownership structure remain unconfirmed. Its first announced signee was artist Zhus JDO (John Davidson Omon) in 2024; Nigerian singer Spyro was announced as a signee in September 2024, though no release in his commercial catalogue through August 2026 carries a Cake Bizness phonogram credit, and no financial terms of that signing have been disclosed anywhere checked.
