NWS Music Group

NWS Music Group is a London-based independent that combines a record label (North West Sound Recordings), a publisher (North West Songs) and a sync licensing arm (North West Sync) under one name. It was founded in 2022 by Nick Raphael, former president of Capitol Records UK, and Christian Tattersfield, former CEO of Warner Music UK, with the publishing arm run by Ben Bodie, previously founder of Ministry of Sound Publishing. The recordings entity, North West Sound Recordings Limited, is incorporated in England and Wales (company number 13985763) and remains active.

NWS Music Group is privately held, with no outside investor or parent company disclosed in any source checked. Its African-market relevance rests on its recordings arm: NWS holds the phonogram credit on Nigerian singer Spyro’s breakout single “Who Is Your Guy?” (2022) and both of its 2023 remixes, confirmed directly on Apple Music. The label has also used its social channels to promote South Africa’s Dlala Thukzin and Nigeria’s KCee and Naira Marley, though this desk could not independently confirm formal signings for those three beyond that promotional activity. On the UK side, trade press reports North West Songs launched with songwriter Dan Fable, Sekou, No Guidnce and a joint venture with electronic artist Daniel Avery.
