Sony Music Publishing West Africa (SMPWA) is the West African arm of Sony Music Publishing. Sony Music Publishing entered West Africa in 2022 by opening an office in Lagos, Nigeria, with Godwin Tom as managing director. The same operation is referred to in Nigerian coverage as Sony Music Publishing Nigeria and, in one 2025 announcement, as Sony Music Publishing Company Nigeria.
Its publicly announced Nigerian activity is concentrated on heritage catalogues. In August 2024 it said it would represent the works of fuji artists K1 De Ultimate, Saheed Osupa and Adewale “Mr Johnson” Ayuba, the late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and the late rapper Dagrin. In June 2025 it announced a deal under which Sony Music Publishing would administer and consolidate the catalogue of highlife artist Bright Chimezie. In December 2023 it announced a partnership with the Lagos rights company DMCE.
