Spotify debuts East Africa Offline/Online capture with Nyashinski

Spotify has released its first East African Offline/Online performance capture, featuring Kenyan musician Nyashinski. The recording was made in July 2026 during the platform’s Greasy Tunes Nairobi activation.

The session was held at Visit Ngara in Nairobi and drew more than 100 invited fans. Nyashinski performed three songs:

  • Dopamine
  • Grateful
  • Perfect Design

The multi-camera production was directed by Tim Horwood of Mashoba Media and filmed from close range to capture the live performances from the audience’s perspective.

Artist comments#

“There’s a lot of love for Kenyan music and Kenyan musicians, and it’s been incredibly encouraging to see young Kenyans discovering and embracing more local music on Spotify,” Nyashinski said. “Young Kenyan artists should not be shy about expressing themselves, experimenting with new sounds and visuals, and creating music that feels true to who they are. It’s exciting to see the creativity coming out of Kenya and the love it continues to receive, both at home and beyond. The future, and the present is bright.”

The release comes as Nyashinski expands his career beyond the Kenyan market. He recently signed with Sony Music Africa, and his second album, Yariasu, incorporates amapiano, Afro-soul and Afrobeats.

Spotify statement#

Rifumo Mdaka, Spotify’s Sub-Saharan Africa Content Marketing Manager, said: “Kenya has a vibrant music culture, and we want to create experiences that reflect the depth of talent here while bringing fans closer to the artists they love. Our first Offline/Online performance capture in East Africa is an important milestone for us and reflects our commitment to creating premium, locally relevant experiences that connect artists with fans in Kenya and around the world.”

The performance extends Spotify’s Greasy Tunes Nairobi activation, which combined music with food, fashion and community activities. The recorded performances allow the session to reach audiences beyond those who attended the Nairobi event.

Nyashinski’s performance videos are available exclusively on Spotify.
