Afro Nation is a touring Afrobeats and Black-diaspora music festival brand, operated by AFRONATION LTD, a company registered in England and Wales since February 2019. It was co-founded by Obi Asika and Adesegun “SMADE” Adeosun, two Nigerian-born, London-based music executives, and has grown into the largest touring Afrobeats festival, with editions staged in Portugal, Puerto Rico, the United States and Ghana. Accra is the brand’s only recurring African market, hosting festival weekends in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
Ownership sits inside a UK corporate structure rather than with the founders directly. AFRONATION LTD is wholly owned by The Malachite Group Limited, a holding company majority-controlled by Obi Asika, which Helios Fairfax Partners Corporation’s 2024 annual report describes as indirectly controlled by Helios Fairfax itself, a Toronto-listed, Africa-focused investment company. Earlier shareholders in AFRONATION LTD included Live Nation’s UK entity LN-Gaiety Holdings and SMADE’s own Event Horizon Entertainment, both of which had exited their stakes by early 2024.
