JULI BEE Explores House Music on New EP ‘Velvet’

Juliet Ilaya, known as JULI BEE, has released a four-track EP titled Velvet that moves through house, amapiano and jazz.

JULI BEE's Velvet EP

Juliet Ilaya, who records as JULI BEE, has released a four-track EP titled Velvet that works across house, amapiano and jazz while keeping a consistent emphasis on groove and movement.

The project opens with “House,” a track built on heavy bass, percussion, piano and drums. “Juliet” follows with a more relaxed arrangement led by piano and bass guitar. “Southy” blends amapiano and house, with prominent trumpet lines, and “Vibey” pushes jazz further forward without losing the drum pulse.

Across the four tracks, JULI BEE shows how different influences can sit within house music. Velvet serves as a concise display of her ability to experiment while maintaining the groove.
