Emirates, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has introduced the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat with a full-height adjustable privacy screen between every seat. The seat debuts on newly received Airbus A350 aircraft and is installed in a 2-3-2 configuration with 28 seats.
The electric privacy divider extends to the full height of the seat, a first for Premium Economy cabins worldwide. Seats are 20 inches wide, with pitch up to 39 inches on the A350, and recline into a cradle position without intruding on the row behind.
Seat controls and comfort#
Customers can raise or lower the divider using the seat controls and lock it into position. The seat is Emirates’ first fully electrically powered Premium Economy seat, with a Passenger Control Unit that includes lounge mode and meal mode settings.

Inflight entertainment and cameras#
The seat includes a 13.3-inch 4K HDR (high dynamic range) touchscreen. Newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft also add left and right exterior camera views to the existing forward and downward cameras.
Passengers can access more than 6,500 channels of movies, TV shows, music, podcasts and games on the ice inflight entertainment system.
Routes serving Africa#
Emirates’ A350 Premium Economy is now available on daily services linking Dubai with Entebbe in Uganda, Tunis in Tunisia and Cape Town in South Africa. Customers from other African destinations can connect through Dubai to A350-operated flights serving destinations in Asia, Europe and Australia.
Premium Economy offers additional space, privacy, dining and service between Economy and Business Class.
Meals and beverages#
Passengers receive regionally inspired menus, amenity kits, a premium wine programme and Emirates hospitality. Meals are served on Royal Doulton fine china with linen napkins and Robert Welch stainless-steel cutlery.
Beverages include Chandon Vintage Brut 2021, an Australian sparkling wine available exclusively to Emirates Premium Economy customers worldwide. From September, customers on select routes may be served Chablis Premier Cru Jean-Marc Brocard 2024 from Burgundy or La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2014 from Bordeaux’s Pessac-Léognan estates. In October, Wiston Estate Brut NV becomes the airline’s first English sparkling wine, served exclusively in Premium Economy on UK routes.
