The track is an Afro R&B and Dancehall fusion written and produced entirely by 3rty. It opens with a courtship scene set in Lagos: a man approaches a woman with Pidgin-laced admiration and promises of dedication. She responds with skepticism, asking for consciousness and patience.
Lyrics and structure#
The chorus is a mutual plea. In the song’s words:
“If I give my all / Hold me up / Don’t let me down.”
In the second half, the woman’s insecurity surfaces through a history of hurt, a face she saw somewhere, and a room that raised questions. The man replies with exhaustion: “Look me well before you accuse.” The track does not resolve neatly; it sits in the discomfort of two people trying to trust each other at different speeds.
