South Africa will open African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 with the Just Energy Transition (JET) Concert in Cape Town on October 12, headlined by Nigerian singer and songwriter Adekunle Gold.
The concert runs from 18:00 to 23:00 on Monday, October 12 at the Grand Africa Café & Beach and will feature Keasungs, Mafikizolo, Roga Roga & Extra Musica and DJ Dollar before Adekunle Gold closes the evening. It kicks off AEW 2026, which runs October 12 to 16 in Cape Town.
Line-up and regional representation#
- Adekunle Gold (Nigeria): Afropop artist; sixth studio album Fuji was released in October 2025 and marked a return to sounds from his upbringing in Lagos.
- Mafikizolo (South Africa): duo of Nhlanhla Mafu and Theo Kgosinkwe; more than two decades of Afro-pop, kwaito and house; known for tracks including Ndihamba Nawe, Love Potion and Khona. The group has collaborated with Nigeria’s Davido and Zimbabwe’s Jah Prayzah.
- Roga Roga & Extra Musica (Republic of Congo): Congolese rumba, soukous and ndombolo; Roga Roga co-founded Extra Musica in the early 1990s, with the group rising to prominence following three successful albums. After several members departed to establish Extra Musica International, Roga Roga continued under Extra Musica Zangul; known for tracks including État-Major, Shalaï and Trop c’est trop.
- Keasungs (Nigeria): Afrobeats-inspired and dance-oriented releases, including Ku Lo Sa (Dancehall Afro Cover), Na Woman Finish My Papa and Nkpigamy.
- DJ Dollar: returns after performing at the 2025 edition alongside Young Stunna and Uncle Waffles; will provide a DJ-led set.
Concert’s role at AEW 2026#
The JET Concert is designed to connect Africa’s cultural influence with the continent’s energy ambitions. It will set the stage for five days of investment discussions at AEW 2026, where African governments, energy companies, financiers and technology providers will convene to advance projects and partnerships across oil, gas, power, renewables and infrastructure.
