Nigerian Afro-pop and alté artist Dpurpleboi releases “Different One” on September 6, an Afro swing single built around a line he has made his own: “Difference is Special.”
The song blends Afro swing, alté Afrobeats and R&B, and doubles as the opening statement for Dpurpleboi’s upcoming second album, “Idi Iche,” a title the artist translates as “The Different One.” Living with albinism himself, he frames the record around turning that experience into a message of confidence rather than stigma: what makes you different doesn’t make you less.
Alongside the announcement, Dpurpleboi’s team shared an old family photograph, said to show the artist as a child with his mother, the image his camp is using to frame “Different One” as a personal statement rather than a straightforward single release.
Dpurpleboi has been building an audience on Instagram and TikTok as @Dpurpleboi, X as @dpurpleworld and YouTube as Dpurpleboi. “Different One” arrives September 6, 2026, ahead of the album “Idi Iche.”
