Calvo Mistari and Naiboi, two Kenyan artists, have released two new singles, ‘Nataka Nikujue’ and ‘Give Me Your Love’, as part of the rollout for their forthcoming joint album, 308.
‘Nataka Nikujue’ features Nessa DeDiva, while ‘Give Me Your Love’ features Nessa DeDiva and Sydney 125. Both tracks were issued through the duo’s publishing imprint Room 308, with production by Jegede and mixing and mastering by Musyoka.
Singles and production#
The two records follow earlier collaborations between the pair, including:
- ‘Rudisha’
- ‘All My Dreams’
- ‘Zama’
- ‘The Prize’
- ‘Baddest’
Those earlier releases are part of the build-up to 308.
‘Nataka Nikujue’ focuses on meeting someone new and developing an attraction, while ‘Give Me Your Love’ deals with romantic interest and the confidence to approach a relationship. Both songs blend Afro-pop and urban sounds.
“‘Nataka Nikujue’ and ‘Give Me Your Love’ capture the spark of meeting someone new and wanting to truly connect,” the duo said. “It’s about bringing back the essence of dating: real connection, attraction and the courage to make the first move. Both songs have a vibe you can dance to and enjoy.”
Album rollout and collaboration history#
Nessa DeDiva initially entered the studio to work on ‘Give Me Your Love’. After hearing ‘Nataka Nikujue’, she recorded vocals for that track as well, which placed her on both singles. Sydney 125 also appears on ‘Give Me Your Love’.
The releases are part of the wider Room 308 project, through which Calvo Mistari and Naiboi are developing their joint album. Further collaborations are expected as the pair continue to expand their work across Kenya and the United States.
Calvo Mistari and Naiboi first worked together on the 2021 single ‘Situation’. Their partnership has since grown across songwriting, production and performance, with both artists holding established careers in Kenya’s urban music scene.
