Burniton Music Group is a Ghanaian record label founded in 2012 by dancehall and Afrobeats artist Stonebwoy (Livingstone Etse Satekla), who runs it as chief executive from Accra. It signs and develops Afrobeats, dancehall, reggae, R&B and hip hop acts and releases Stonebwoy’s own catalogue; past signees include Kelvyn Boy, who departed in 2019, and current roster member OV.
The company has built its international reach through partnerships rather than ownership stakes: a deal with Universal Music Group’s Def Jam Recordings and Def Jam Africa from May 2022, followed by a global distribution and label-services agreement with Warner Music Group’s ADA Worldwide, announced in April 2024, which now handles Stonebwoy’s catalogue internationally.
Ownership: independent, founded and run by Stonebwoy. No outside label or major-group ownership stake has been disclosed.
