South African hip hop artist Nobaray has released a new single, ‘Holy Matrimonial’, which pairs Mthatha-influenced street rap with themes of faith, commitment and marriage.
The track frames romantic relationships around loyalty, responsibility and faith-centred love. Nobaray calls his style “faith-driven gangster rap”, drawing on his own experiences and environment while addressing relationships and family life.
“This is not just a love song,” Nobaray said. “This is for the gents who came from the streets but choose to love right, lead right, and build a home that glorifies God.”
‘Holy Matrimonial’ is part of Nobaray’s work as an independent artist and entrepreneur. He has also curated a Spotify playlist with more than 24,000 listeners and founded the Glory clothing brand.
Nobaray, whose real name is Sanele Batata, was born in Mthatha in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province. He works across music, curation and fashion, positioning his output around the region’s street culture while incorporating themes of faith.
