Three months after its release, Olivia Rodrigo‘s “The Cure” music video is becoming a museum piece, with an exhibit opening at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, United States, on Sept. 2. The display, titled “Olivia Rodrigo: The Cure Unraveled,” will run through Feb. 22, 2027, and Rodrigo will appear in person the night before.

The exhibit highlights props, artwork and sets created for the video. On Sept. 1, the eve of the official opening, Rodrigo will take part in a conversation with filmmaker Cameron Crowe and perform live.

Ticketing and expansion#

Tickets for the Sept. 1 conversation and performance go on sale Friday to American Express members who have access to Amex presale tickets, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time. Full information about the ticketing process is available online.

The museum also plans an expansion with additional artifacts stretching further back into Rodrigo’s past, currently scheduled for early fall. Further details about the expanded version are expected to be announced soon.

Artifacts and statements#

Artifacts promised for the initial display include:

  • Rodrigo’s nurse costume from “The Cure” music video
  • Props such as the felt beating heart and miniature OR
  • Hand-stitched artwork used in the packaging for her recent album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love”

“I grew up going to the Grammy Museum,” Rodrigo said in a statement, “and their mission is especially important to me, so it’s a full circle moment to be able to work with them on this exhibit. It’s the perfect place to feature ‘The Cure’ music video pieces that mean so much to me, as well as some incredibly special items from the past decade that we’re later adding that I’ve never shown before. I can’t wait for you all to see them in person.”

Kelsey Goelz, Grammy Museum curator, said: “Olivia is a pop music creative force and the Grammy Museum is thrilled to showcase the special magic behind a fan-favorite video. This exhibition offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at the making of a professional music video, while highlighting the importance of DIY and handcrafted artistry. We’re also excited to expand the exhibit later this year with extraordinary pieces that help further tell the story of Olivia’s incredible career.”

Tour context#

The exhibit launch follows Saturday’s Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, a one-day gathering with an all-female lineup headlined by Rodrigo. Her 86-show Unraveled Tour begins in Hartford on Sept. 25.

“You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” has been one of the year’s best-reviewed major releases. It is expected to garner multiple nominations in the 2027 Grammy race, for which this Friday marks the end of the current eligibility period.
