Headspace, the meditation and mindfulness company that previously partnered with Spotify and named John Legend its chief music officer, is being acquired by healthcare firm Sword Health for a reported price of up to $300m.
The reported price is below the $3bn valuation Headspace Health claimed after its 2021 merger with mental healthcare company Ginger.
- In 2016, Headspace launched a joint subscription with Spotify.
- In 2020, John Legend was appointed chief music officer.
- In 2021, Headspace debuted a 45-minute Arcade Fire track.
Official financial filings about the deal do not state a purchase price. The figure has been reported at between $200m and $300m in cash.
Sword Health raised a $40m funding round in June 2025 that valued the company at $4bn.
It is unclear whether John Legend remains involved with Headspace or whether his 2020 role included equity.
