Nigerian Afrobeats Star Ruger Drops ‘R.U. (Raw & Unfiltered), Vol. 1’ EP

Nigerian Afrobeats artist Ruger has released a new six-track EP, R.U. (Raw & Unfiltered), Vol. 1. The project arrives as a continuation of the direct, sensual lyricism that marked his earlier work.

Song Details

The opening track, “She Don’t Like Men,” addresses a partner’s sexuality with lines such as, “I cover my girlfriend with the blood of Jesus, because I can’t fight a woman because of a woman.”

“All Die” shifts to a percussive Afropop production, where Ruger sings about competing for a woman’s affection. The chorus repeats the phrase “all die na die.”

“Private Chef” incorporates Brazilian funk elements, a style Ruger previously explored on the single “Toma Toma.” The lyrics describe intentions to pursue other relationships.

South African artists Musa Keys and Young Stunna feature on the Afro-tech track “Do Nothing.” Ruger reflects on the financial cost of his lifestyle, asking on the chorus, “Where una dey see this money?”

“Loved At Home” and “Jesus Loves Me” close the EP. The latter addresses spiritual themes, with Ruger expressing gratitude despite lyrical content elsewhere on the project that does not reference religious considerations.
