Send us your pitch
Afrobeats Wire covers the business of African music: who owns the
rights, who signed what, where the money goes and what the numbers actually say. If you know
something about any of that, this is the way to reach the desk.
What we want
- Deals and ownership. Catalogue sales, distribution and publishing
agreements, investment rounds, label restructures. Term sheets and filings especially. - Money that does not add up. Royalty statements that do not reconcile,
payouts that never arrived, splits that changed without anyone being told. - Numbers. Streaming, touring, retail or payout data we can verify and
publish, with the methodology shown. - Companies. Corrections and additions to the African music companies
directory, from the people who run them. - Story pitches. If you are a journalist with a beat we do not cover
yet, tell us what it is and what you would file.
What we do not want
- Release announcements, EPKs and “my client just dropped a single”. We do not run them.
- Playlist, blog or radio placement requests.
- Anything you would like written about you in exchange for payment. That is
advertising, and it is
clearly labelled as such.
The terms, plainly
- We read everything. We reply within five working days only if we are
taking it forward. - We do not pay for tips. We do commission freelance pieces, and we say so upfront when
we do. - We do not show copy to sources before publication, but we do check facts back.
- Everything is on the record unless you say otherwise before you tell us.
If it is sensitive
A web form is not secure communication and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It
travels over TLS and lands in our inbox, which is fine for most things and not fine if you are
risking your job. For anything of that kind, do not use this form and do not use a work device
or a work network. Email pitch@afrobeatswire.com
from a personal account and ask for another channel before you send anything.
