Nigerian rapper Ms Jorji has accused Iweh Pascal Odinaka, the Nigerian dancer and entertainer known as Poco Lee, of sexual misconduct during a 2024 meeting in Dallas, Texas.
The allegation follows reports of Poco Lee’s legal troubles and arrest in the United Kingdom.
Account of the alleged incident
Ms Jorji said she and a female friend visited Poco Lee’s apartment after receiving an invitation. She said she was seeking mentorship and professional guidance for her music career.
According to Ms Jorji, the situation escalated when Poco Lee made unwanted physical advances toward her. He then made similar advances toward her friend and tried to force her into a separate room.
Ms Jorji said the two women fought off the advances, left the apartment immediately, and drove several hours back to their destination that same night.
Why she stayed silent
Addressing why she did not speak publicly for years, the rapper said fear and intimidation kept her from coming forward. She said she doubted the public would believe her testimony against a prominent entertainment figure.
“Two years ago, Pocolee tried to rape my friend and me; we ended up beating him and pushing him off,” she said.
Ms Jorji also said that asking for sex in exchange for a career is common in the music industry, and that other people in the business have done the same thing to her.
