Nigeria’s Davido Supports Separate Bank Accounts for Couples

Davido says he supports couples keeping separate bank accounts and believes both men and women should maintain personal finances for security.

Davido, a Nigerian music star, has said he supports couples maintaining separate bank accounts, arguing that both men and women should keep personal finances for their own security.

Speaking on The Uncut Podcast, Davido was asked whether women should keep secret bank accounts away from their partners. He said he sees nothing wrong with the idea and believes it should apply to both partners.

“Yeah, I think it’s good. I actually think they should; you never know. If I ever found out that my wife had a secret bank account, I’d not be angry; I think everybody should have their own.”

Davido said independent finances matter because no one can predict the future. He noted that both men and women should be financially prepared and able to stand on their own if circumstances change.

He added that personal financial independence is beneficial in relationships and that everyone should have their own account regardless of marital status.

“I think everybody should have their own,” Davido added.
