This page explains the cookies Afrobeats Wire sets, what each one is for, and how to change your choice at any time.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to function. Others are optional, and we only set those if you allow them.
Your choice
When you first visit, you are asked whether to allow analytics cookies. Nothing optional is set before you answer, and refusing is a single click. You can change your mind whenever you like:
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a refusal and do not ask again.
Essential cookies
These are always on. Without them the site cannot remember your choices or keep you signed in.

Analytics cookies (optional)
Set only if you allow them. We use Google Analytics to count readers and see which stories are read, so we can commission more of what works. We do not use it to identify you personally.

Until you allow analytics, Google’s tag runs with consent mode set to denied: no analytics or advertising storage is used and identifiers are redacted.
Advertising cookies
Afrobeats Wire does not currently carry advertising and sets no advertising cookies. The category exists in your preferences so that, if that ever changes, it stays off unless you turn it on.
Embedded content
Articles sometimes embed players and posts from other services, such as YouTube, Spotify or X. Those providers may set their own cookies when an embed loads, and their policies govern that. Where possible we link out instead of embedding.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site working, including remembering that you refused the optional ones.
