Each row multiplies the Premium side by premium_multiplier and the ad-supported side by ad_multiplier, then recomputes. The two stresses are the only judgement calls in the measurement and both are moved in the direction that works against the finding. The Premium side is cut because its segment cost of revenue carries audiobook content and subscriber video podcast costs that pay no music rights holder; Spotify does not disclose the size of that component, so 20 per cent is an arbitrary stress and not an estimate of it. The ad-supported side is raised because its denominator counts anyone who played anything for more than zero milliseconds in thirty days, which flatters the divisor. free_streams_share_for_parity_pct is 100 divided by the ratio: the share of a subscriber's per-head listening volume a free listener would have to do for the per-stream rate to come out equal across the two tiers. That is the break-even on the strongest objection to the finding, which is that a billing relationship and a thirty-day active user are not comparable units of listening. Spotify publishes no stream counts by tier, so the column states what would have to be true, and does not measure whether it is.","unit":"","license":"Afrobeats Wire's compilation and analysis are licensed CC BY 4.0.
