The two organisations measure different rights (SAMPRA: needletime\/neighbouring rights in sound recordings; SAMRO: performing rights in musical works) with different financial year ends (SAMPRA: 31 December; SAMRO: 30 June) and the 'earlier' and 'later' years are each collector's own two most recently audited years, not the same calendar period.
