{"id":4865,"slug":"platform-rate-change-2021-to-2024","title":"Measured per-1,000-stream payout rate, four platforms, 2021 against 2024","source":"Computed from this desk's registered duetti-per-stream-rates-2024 dataset, itself transcribed from the Duetti Music Economics Report published 23 January 2025","source_url":"https:\/\/report.duetti.co\/","source_type":"computed","method":"rate_2021 and rate_2024 are read directly from this desk's duetti-per-stream-rates-2024 dataset (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Amazon Music, the four platforms Duetti has reported every year since 2021). min_rate and max_rate are the minimum and maximum of that platform's four annual values (2021 to 2024 inclusive) in the same dataset. change_usd is rate_2024 minus rate_2021, to two decimal places. change_pct is change_usd divided by rate_2021, multiplied by 100, rounded to one decimal place using standard rounding. trough_year and trough_rate identify the lowest of the four annual values and the year it fell in, taken from the same source rows, for platforms whose 2021 and 2024 values are not themselves the series minimum. This dataset does not re-measure anything: every input number already exists in duetti-per-stream-rates-2024, and this table only re-arranges those sixteen rows into four, one per platform, so the four-platform comparison can be read without cross-referencing sixteen rows by hand. Duetti's own methodology is disputed by Spotify, which told TechCrunch in March 2025 that treating pooled, pro-rata royalty payments as a fixed per-stream rate is 'ridiculous and unfounded'; that caveat, already recorded in the source dataset, applies here without qualification.","unit":"mixed","license":"Afrobeats Wire's compilation and analysis are licensed CC BY 4.0.
