The two stream columns sum that artist's chart streams across all of their entries on that day's Top 200; a zero means the artist did not appear on that day's chart at all, not that nobody listened. Both dates are Mondays, chosen so that the comparison holds the day of the week fixed. fall_streams is the size of a decline and gain_streams the size of an increase, each zero for artists moving the other way, so the relevant column sums to the gross movement in one direction rather than the net. share_of column and cumulative_share_pct are each artist's share of that gross movement, sorted largest first. Two dates is a comparison, not a trend, and a single day's Top 200 is a snapshot of one day's charted consumption: an artist can leave this table because a release aged out of the chart, because of a chart reshuffle, or because of a collection gap, and this dataset cannot distinguish between them. No cause is claimed for any individual movement. Daily chart volume swings with the day of the week, and it swings hardest in South Africa: across the 16 collected dates South Africa's Top 200 stream total ranges from 3,492,265 to 7,133,967, a spread of 104.3 per cent of the lower figure, against 24.9 per cent for Nigeria, 18.0 per cent for Egypt and 10.7 per cent for Morocco. An unevenly spaced series therefore cannot be read endpoint to endpoint without risking a weekday artefact. This dataset holds weekday fixed: it uses only the four Mondays the desk collected, 17, 24 and 31 August and 7 September 2026, evenly spaced at seven days. Four observations is a short panel and it cannot separate a weekday effect from a trend running in the same direction, and no significance is claimed from four points. This desk's Spotify chart collector retains the most recent full 76-market snapshots of the daily Top 200 as published by kworb.net. This build ran on 2026-09-07 over every snapshot on disk: 2026-08-13, 2026-08-17, 2026-08-20, 2026-08-21, 2026-08-22, 2026-08-24, 2026-08-25, 2026-08-27, 2026-08-28, 2026-08-30, 2026-08-31, 2026-09-01, 2026-09-02, 2026-09-04, 2026-09-06 and 2026-09-07. Gaps between listed dates are collection gaps, not zeros, and the intervals are uneven, which is the reason this dataset is built on same-weekday dates only. For each date and each of the four markets Spotify publishes a daily chart for in Africa (Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa), every entry on that market's Top 200 was summed, and the portion credited to lead artists whose registered country of origin is on the African continent was divided by the market total. Origin is applied as currently registered in this desk's roster, to every date, so a later correction moves the whole series rather than only future points. Two artists flagged as classified by name search and relevant to these four charts, Samthing Soweto (South Africa) and Cheb Amrou (Morocco), were checked against their charting recordings and confirmed against published biography before this build. Chart streams are a sample of consumption inside a market's daily Top 200, not a full accounting of streaming in that market, and a share of the Top 200 is not a share of a country's listening. On 2026-08-28 the upstream source served a chart identical in every position, track and stream count to 2026-08-27 for 44 of 76 markets, Egypt among them; Nigeria, Morocco and South Africa differed.
