Afrobeats Wire took the four platforms Duetti reports every year in its comparison table: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Amazon Music. Figures are Duetti's stated 'global payout rate' per 1,000 streams for each full calendar year 2021 to 2024; Duetti's own published note says it restated prior years in this edition against a larger data set, particularly for Amazon Music. Duetti does not disclose the number of tracks, artists or statements behind the figure, and Afrobeats Wire has not seen the underlying statements. Spotify told TechCrunch in March 2025 that Duetti's methodology was 'ridiculous and unfounded' and that 'no streaming service pays per stream', on the grounds that platforms pool subscription and ad revenue and pay out pro rata to a rightsholder's share of total streams rather than crediting a fixed rate to each play. Treat this dataset as the most-cited independent estimate of a rate that the platforms themselves do not publish and dispute being reduced to, not as a rate contractually set by any platform.","unit":"usd_per_1000_streams","license":"Afrobeats Wire's compilation and analysis are licensed CC BY 4.0.
