This desk collected all three for all 41 African markets on the same 78 collection dates between 16 August and 4 November 2026, 273,498 songs-chart rows, 270,899 albums-chart rows and 268,647 music-videos-chart rows. Within each chart type and market, every distinct Apple catalogue identifier (ext_id, confirmed stable across markets, so the same album carries the same identifier everywhere it charts) observed on any of the 78 dates counts once as one charting position, then those per-market counts are summed across all 41 markets. total_positions is that sum; it does not weight by how many days a title held the position, only whether it ever held one in that market. A position's credited artist string is reduced to its lead artist by cutting at the first comma, ampersand, feature credit, collaboration marker or slash, then lowercased. african_positions counts positions whose lead artist, by that normalised name, exactly matches one of 174 names in this desk's own origin registry already resolved to an African country. The registry was built primarily from artists who charted on Spotify's own African daily charts, so it systematically favours artists prominent in streaming-singles culture and will undercount any African album or video artist who never crossed onto a Spotify chart; this is the floor stated in every prior piece using this registry, and it applies identically to all three chart types compared here, so it does not explain a difference between them.","unit":"count","license":"Afrobeats Wire's compilation and analysis are licensed CC BY 4.0.
