The roster is every artist this desk has seen charting as a lead since collection began. Names are normalised by stripping accents and non-alphanumeric characters and lower-casing. A normalised name is counted as African only where every roster entry bearing it agrees on one African country. Observations are chart rows, so one recording on twelve charts is twelve observations. Correction, 29 September 2026: an earlier version of this table reported 0 straddling names. The correct figure is 1. Because normalisation strips every non-alphanumeric character, the 165 roster names written wholly in non-Latin script all normalise to the same empty key, and that key spans many countries including one African one, so it straddles and is excluded. The exclusion is conservative: it can only suppress a match, never invent one. The accompanying sensitivity table african-featured-credit-name-normalisation-sensitivity-28-september-2026 shows that no figure reported from this data changes materially under raw-name matching, and that the export and chart-count findings do not change at all.","unit":"","license":"Afrobeats Wire's compilation and analysis are licensed CC BY 4.0.
