The membership test is mechanical, presence on all 20 dates, with no hand-picking and no threshold on size. all_other_artists is every remaining African-origin exporter on that date, eight artists across the window. The two parts sum to export_streams on every date and the build aborts if they do not. export_index_21aug and persistent_index_21aug index each series to its own 21 August value, set to 100. Ramy Sabry qualifies for the persistent eight on this constant-roster basis, but his origin was unresolved in this desk\u2019s roster until 15 September 2026, so per-date export datasets published before that date did not count him and understated the column by roughly 37,000 to 49,400 streams a day. That is a measurement change, not a chart change, and it is why the persistent group is reported alongside the recomputed total rather than against previously published per-date figures. This split cannot say why an artist stopped charting outside Africa, only that it did. other_index_21aug indexes the non-persistent group to its own 21 August value of 113,066 streams.
